Medicare Levy Surcharge

Once your Adjusted Taxable Income (ATI) becomes greater than $90,000 (single) or $180,000 (for a couple combined) and you do not have appropriate private hospital cover then you are charged the Medicare Levy Surcharge as follows:

If you have two or more dependent children, the family income threshold is increased by $1,500 for each dependent child after the first child.
