A summary of some of the key items discussed in the recent meeting of the LBW Investment Committee
are given below:
1. Investor comfort – With markets at their highs and new year volume still low, we discussed the current state of investor sentiment. A reduction in geopolitical tensions and ongoing macroeconomic stimulus seems to be a good environment for more stable markets, though we will need to watch for unexpectedly poor signals over the coming months.
2. Performance attribution – We discussed different methods of reviewing portfolio decisions and their outcomes. As such we highlighted key metrics such as allocation attribution and manager selection attribution.
3. Fixed Income LITs – We reviewed the growth of credit trusts listed on the ASX. These included both those with local and global exposures, as well as those invested in traded corporate bonds, private loan deals and Australian residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS).
